Uninstall/Delete apps on your Mac using Finder

In this HowDo we show how to uninstall an app using Finder. This method works for all apps except those required by Mac, such as many of the apps installed by macOS.

Step 1

Open Finder
Usually, it is the left/top of the Dock

Open applications folder
You can open by clicking Applications in the sidebar of any Finder window. Or choose Go > Applications from the menu bar in the Finder.

Step 3

Move the app to the Trash
You can do it in any of the three ways: 1. Drag the app to the Trash 2. Select the app and choose File > Move to Trash from the menu bar 3. Select the app and press Command-Delete on your keyboard

Step 4

Delete the app from the Trash
To delete the app after moving it to the Trash, choose Finder > Empty Trash. Please note this would also delete everything in the Trash.

Can't delete?
If you can't move an app to the Trash, it may be due to the fact that you can't use the Finder to delete apps that are required by your Mac, such as many of the apps installed by macOS.
