How to cook the perfect Onsen Egg at home

Ever been to Japanese ramen store and wondered how they are able to cook such a perfect soft-boiled egg?

I will share the secret with you so you can now do it yourself in your own kitchen!

You can add this to your rice, ramen, pasta, salad or even for toast!

What do you need

A pot, a glass and few eggs.

Step 1

Fill up the pot with water

Fill the pot with three glasses of water.

Bring the water to boil

This could take a few minutes, cover the pot with lid will speed up the process ;)

Put in the eggs and add cold water

Once the water has reached boiling point, turn off the heat and add in the eggs followed by a glass of cold water.

Wait for 10 minutes

Cover the pot with lid and leave it for 10 minutes!

Chill the eggs in ice bath

After 10 minutes, place the eggs in a bowl of iced water to stop the eggs from overcooking.

There you have it, you have made your own Japanese style Onsen egg!

Tip:

You can add your own preferred choice of seasonings.

Onsen eggs can be stored in the fridge for three days, you can cook a few eggs at once and place it in a hot water for 5 minutes to warm it up before serving.
