Uninstall/Delete apps on your Mac using Launchpad

In this HowDo we show how to uninstall an app downloaded from AppStore using Launchpad. If you cannot find the app on Launchpad, you can also do it using Finder.

Step 1

Open Launchpad
To open Launchpad, click it in the Dock (shown in the image) or open it from your Applications folder. You could also pinch closed with your thumb and three fingers on trackpad.

Step 2

Find the app to be uninstalled in Launchpad
If you don't see the app, type its name in the search field at the top of Launchpad. If you have more than one page of apps, you can switch pages to find the app. In this demo, we will uninstall GarageBand.

Step 3

Long press any app until jiggle
Press and hold the Option key, or click and hold any app until the apps jiggle.

Step 4

Click Delete and Confirm
Click the Delete next to the app that you want to delete, then click Delete to confirm. The app is deleted immediately.

Can't delete?
The Delete button appears only for apps that you downloaded from the App Store. Delete other apps using the Finder instead. Check out the other HowDo to find out how to do this.
